The end is near…

Food: 2800+

  • Honey Nut Cheerios + 1% milk, banana, coffee, sugar free hazelnut creamer
  • apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • SunDried tomato wrap with spinach, grilled chicken, greek yogurt cucumber dressing, mushroom and reduced fat swiss cheese.  Energy bites.  Crystal Ice.  Zone Protein Bar.  Clementines.
  • Irish Soda Bread
  • Smoothie: frozen berries, spinach, pom, greek yogurt, honey, whey protein, banana.
  • Yogurt Pretzels.  Wine.

Exercise:

  • Reilly Walk
  • 50 Push ups
  • 50 situps

Basically the only thing I’m succeeding at this TBT is my 50 push ups and 50 sit ups a day.  Yesterday was “Bread Day” and there was homemade bread in the room where we had our Department Chair meeting.  I dramatically turned my back to it and ate none, despite the delicious smelling cream cheese covered bagel the woman sitting next to me was eating.  I indulged only in some extra coffee.  I starved all the way till lunch, despite being busy and my snack.

I had a huge lunch.  Then I came upstairs and jammed on my protein bar and snuck across the hall for a piece of bread with a bit of cream cheese and stole a handful of Dove chocolates.  *sigh.*

Made a huge smoothie disaster for dinner.  (I never use enough fluid and the stupid things won’t blend and I find that irritating.  Highly irritating.)  It tasted great, btw.  Went home, jammed on handfuls of yogurt pretzels and a glass of wine.

Today is Parent-Teacher conferences, so I will indulge in an Italian Dinner provided by our parents, and I don’t even feel bad.  Tomorrow, there are no classes at the gym I can go to.  I will walk Reilly, do my push/sit ups, and… I dunno.  I need to do some kind of at home workout, the trouble is I suck at those.  I have Sunny’s Frida Awesome Jammer workout.  I could do that…  we’ll see.

After tonight, Basketball is over for me, Conferences are out of the way, I should be able to get back to my routine.

Exercise:

  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 situps (25 leg lifts, 25 cobras)
  • Reilly walk (short)
  • 2hr. Sweets practice
  • 1hr. scrimmage

After sitting down and writing all about being positive, I had a major Hulk Menace negativity slip.  😦  Oops.

Huge food success yesterday.  2800+ healthy calories.  I have decided to experiment with wraps, so yesterday I smashed myself a turkey-swiss spinach wrap.  I’ve never been good at rolling burritos and I always overfill my tacos.  These skills translate to wrap-ping, so I struggled and designed a cucumber-dill dressing disaster.  Oddly enough, after being refrigerated all day, it stayed together well.  And was filling.  Despite the lack of bread-stuffs.  I’m quite pleased with how it turned out, and have another for today. It kills me that 6 tortillas cost $3.59 and a loaf of bread is $1.99, though…

I brought clementines and energy bites to ward off the Dove Dark Chocolates (the stash of which Karen refilled yesterday.)  Success!  Those energy bites rock.  Remind me again why I didn’t make them the past few weeks?  I jammed on a spinach salad and a smoothie-shake (what’s the difference?) before practice yesterday.  Waaay more than enough, even for a 3hr. night.  I didn’t have a snack before scrimmage, or even afterwards.  Chia seeds keep your blood sugar regulated, and your tummy full.  Considering they were in everything I ate yesterday…  must be true.  🙂

Practice was… practice.  My backwards skating has improved tremendously the past week alone.  Misto hugely helped last Thursday.  When crossing over, she told me to keep my feet on the ground.  Aha!  I can still only do it going the correct direction, but yesterday I worked on the foot movement to cross the wrong direction and improved.  Baby steps.  At scrimmage…  well first I was pleased to have four refs.  Really.  It was such a relief seeing them all show up.  I’d have been happy with three, four was amazing! Yay.  I played… okay.  I fucked up a few times and did some good things as well.  But.  Positive Polly focuses on the things she did well, so…

  • I didn’t give up.  Jamming against a Sweets-Nona-Bijou-??? wall I pushed and pushed and fought and fought and got a high block and went to the box.  But Sweets said it wasn’t really a high block.  😀  Regardless: I didn’t give up.  I kept pushing and pushing and maybe I didn’t get through, but someday soon I will.
  • Cass jamming…  seconds on the jam clock.  I dropped back and nailed someone out of Cass’s way so she scored her points as time expired.  I’m not so good at the drop back (the clockwise “danger zone,” so to speak,) so this was pretty cool.
  • Last jam, power jam Menace.  I get out of the pack and look at the jam clock.  8 seconds to get back around and through again.  Fuuuck.  My instinct is to conserve energy, w/ 8 seconds I’m not getting around the track and back through… but I’ve seen She Who lap a pack and score in 8 seconds, so fuck it.  I sped up, got around the track, and with the help of an amazing offensive hit from Cass, scored my 5 points.  Fuck yeah!  … and that was the end of scrimmage.  😀

I’ve still got an Apex-Jumping mental block.  I think I have to skip practice tomorrow (we’re hosting a playoff basketball game.  They haven’t asked me to run the clock, perhaps due to the faux pas from Saturday… perhaps b/c they think I intuitively know to be here… not sure.) So maybe I’ll hit up Saturday Scrimmage and focus on my hops.  (My hops, my hops, my lovely lady hops?)

Play SMARTER. Not HARDER. xo

Food:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios, 1% milk, banana, coffee, sugar free hazelnut creamer
  • greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola (Tim forgot to pack my apple)
  • salad w/ tofu and light southwest lime ranch dressing
  • apple (sigh of relief)
  • Coffee Protein Shake
  • banana
  • WINE.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly Walk
  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 crunches (25 regular, 25 v-ups)
  • 2 hr practice
  • 1 hr Yoga w/ Rad Die and my lovely teammates.

Food.  Ate well yesterday.  I survived w/o the apple I normally have for snack mid-day.  It was tough, but I did it.  Then when I got home the first thing I did was ravenously devour an apple out of the fridge.  Whew.  I should have had my banana before Conts practice last night, even though it was more chill than usual.  (I got dizzy/lightheaded during headstands.)

I slept like a champ.  I was nice and relaxed after Yoga and I did my best to maintain that demeanor on my drive home.  Mostly successful.  Small glass of wine before bed.  It took some time to fall asleep, but I did, and I slept like a champ.  (I should start using my fitbit to track my sleep again…)

Yoga.  Wow that was super awesome, and just what the doctor ordered.  Have I mentioned how much I hate being captain, yet?  😦  I really do.  I love it, but I hate it.  I hated turning skaters away last night.  Sure, you don’t have to be a “Sunday” skater to do Yoga after practice, but…  you do to attend a Contenders practice.  Also…  I talked about the stress everyone’s been feeling, lately…  And sure.  The newbs started their eval week, too.  But…  we’ve been at it for three.  And all the scrimmaging for the Hood/Daisy bout…  Last night was for the Contenders and our Project Mayhem guests.  It wasn’t for everyone else.  I have good reasons, but they don’t make me feel any better for turning those other girls away.

And then, I can’t help but wonder what everyone is thinking.  I know some girls are judging that particular use of that time.  I also know it was exactly what those skaters needed.  The ones that came.  And the ones that didn’t.  Well.  You can’t coach part of an athlete, you have to coach the whole athlete.  And sometimes that’s going to mean doing some weird shit at practice to get our mental game/focus on.  They picked me for this job, so they’re just going to have to come around to what that means, and that means yoga here and there at practice, etc.

Besides.  We could have scrimmaged last night, sure.  And yeah, the two evaluators (me & Die) who were there could have seen some good shit.  But.  How much would you all have killed me if we’d done that?  I’d have been pissed off at me.  Not to mention our poor refs.  They’ve had scrimmages two-three nights a week on top of Sats/Suns and a couple of bouts.  They’d have killed me, too.  (Or they just wouldn’t have shown up.  And then we’d really have killed each other.)

So HA.

And I know what you’re all thinking/going to say: I can’t make everyone happy all the time.  I beg to differ.  Yes. I.  Can.

Unghhhh Sickly Pickly Ickly… tickly?

Food:

  • http://www.fitbit.com/user/22PZFF/foods/date/2012-09-26  Haha suck it.  Go to fit bit and read it.   Ok just kidding.
  • 1% milk w/ frosted mini-wheats, coffee w/ half and half
  • Apple & 1% cottage cheese
  • PB & J on wheat, 1% milk, Slenderize Fuze
  • 2 banana, Hershey’s Special Dark syrup, natural peanut butter, nonfat vanilla yogurt, and 1% milk smoothie

Exercise:

  • 2hr derby practice
  • 1mile Reilly walk

Yesterday…  reviewed applicants for my new assistant.  There are some highly qualified candidates.  And some interesting looking people who I unfortunately will be unable to interview.  So, we’re probably interviewing next week sometime, and I have high hopes that we’ll find someone good.  Raced home, was fortunate to find a lull in the rain, walked Reilly, whipped up a fancy smoothie based on a recipe I found on Sunny D’s Pinterest page, and went to practice.  Unfortunately for me…  the smoothie didn’t settle well in my tummy.  😦  I was all burpy sickly during practice cuz my tummy hurt.  I think it must have been the oil in the peanut butter.

Went home, checked in on fitbit, and discovered I could still consume 138 calories…  exactly enough for a large glass of wine.  😀 Showered, put on my pink fluffy robe, and poured myself a delicious, refreshing, giant glass of… water.  😉  I needed it.  Actually, while I was showering, pondering the wine, the thought of water popped into my head and was more enticing than the idea of wine.  Weird, right?

Then bed.  Reilly likes to sleep between my legs.  So she did last night.  Yeah, that sounds weird, esp. if you factor in that I sleep butt-assed naked, but take into account the blankets and it isn’t weird.  (Right?) She likes to curl up in a ball, and then she has mommy legs all around her to keep her warm.  I assume that’s why.  Oh, and I have a bed heater…  like a heated blanket, but it’s a mattress cover.  I put that on low last night.  Sooo nice…  🙂  eventually I rolled onto my side so Reilly had to sleep curled up behind my legs instead of between them.  (Which is less weird, right?)  And then I had to roll over and Reilly was in the way and when I moved her she got fed up and relocated to the floor.
