Blah Blah Blah ‘n Stuff

So the past few days… I’ve eaten… alright.

Friday–breakfast, snack, subway for lunch… penne w/ broccoli & chicken for first dinner… burrito, salmon triscuits… something else, apple, luna bar, wine for second dinner…  peanut and peanut butter m&ms (that way it was like crunchy peanut butter m&ms) during the basketball game…  50 push ups, 50 situps, 2 Reilly walks.

Saturday–Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage muffin & milk… Mocha Freeze from Costco…  Almond Shake, Protein Bar, Cliff Shot Bloks, Dirty Chai, Tuscan Whole Wheat Linguini (from Noodles,) Wine…?  Scrimmage.

Sunday–Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage muffin & milk… Dirty Chai, Apple & Swiss Grilled Cheese, Tomato Soup, Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese, random bites of groceries… beer, wine…  etc Push ups, situps, yoga.

So.  I finally did myself a favor and got some healthier naughty foods.  I hit Costco on Saturday. Some exciting things I got include: cut butternut squash, a huge bag of spinach (I filled five sandwich bags w/ spinach and froze them for smoothies, etc b/c last time the large bag of spinach mostly rot,) cuties, apples, strawberries, mushrooms… dried apricots! … protein bars… SALMON! (frozen filets and lox style, 1% milk…

Today, I had the pleasure of King Soopers and Sprouts.  Oi.  On top of my usual groceries I got… Chobani Greek yogurts (and bulk vanilla toffee granola for them) to try instead of the Yoplait I usually have for snack…  Lemon and Raspberry Yogurt Pretzels.  (These are like chocolate covered pretzels, but better for you.  And definitely better than Dove dark chocolates, ice cream, or Reece’s.  …  wrap… tortilla… things.  um…  I think that’s it.

Oh–and I filled up on ingredients for No Bake Energy Bites and made a double batch.  Between those, the delicious protein bars, Luna bars, and the yogurt pretzels… I willy stay away from the bad-for-me treats.

I made mac and cheese with the butternut squash… I’ll post a recipe later, once I have a picture of it… hopefully it turns out good (and Tim likes it and doesn’t think it tastes funny like he did the Almond Milk tomato soup…) because I doubled the recipe and had enough to freeze two casseroles of it…

Breaking Point

Food:

  • 2 egg muffins, coffee with sugar free caramel macchiato creamer, banana?
  • 6 Clif Shot Bloks (2 servings)
  • beer
  • Cheesy Penne with Broccoli, white wine
  • NACHOS!!!  Red Wine.
  • Red Wine.
  • the rest of the heart chocolates
  • some dove dark chocolates
  • Probably more red wine.

Exercise:

  • 50 toe push ups
  • 50 sit ups
  • scrimmage
  • Reilly walk

So I hit my breaking point yesterday.  Which is probably a good thing, because maybe now I can finally move forward.  I’m proud of how I played yesterday.  I made lots of stupid mistakes, for which I have lots of stupid justifications.  But I played my hardest, and I only gave up when I had to (and there were a couple of times my legs were so fatigued I had to give up.)  I literally left it all on the track.  More than once.

Yes, I had three(ish) very stupid cuts.  I’m sitting here visualizing them.  Why?  I need to focus on what I did well.  Those three cuts were the result of my body not reacting as quickly as my mind.  My legs were lead.

Ever lit a real fire?  Like when you camp?  At the end of the night, the wood has burned and you’re left with wood coals?  The dying embers of the fire?  You blow on them and they ignite, only to burn out more thoroughly?

That was my legs yesterday.  But I kept blowing on them and telling them to light it up again, and they did.  There were two times my legs were lead and I gave up.  My first jam and my last jam.  Even though it was physical… it was mental.

My first jam was two jams, since I went to the box.  And both jams were identical: I fought and fought and fought at the front and was stuck, stuck, stuck, until I broke through after the Fight Club jammer (first Cass, then Alpha.)  Both jammers played “eat the baby” on me.  I cut Cass.  I don’t remember what happened with Alpha.  I remember getting hit out and ending up at the back of the pack behind Queen.  I tried getting by her once or twice and couldn’t, so I gave up and rolled there for maybe 3 seconds before the jam clock expired.  Then I cried a lot.

It was just like… I’m almost there, almost there, almost there, then I got out and was pulled back in.  Fuck.  It’s how I feel about the whole situation.  It was a physical manifestation of my mental state.  Except that I gave up at the end.  And sometimes I wonder why I don’t give up for real.  Mostly I have.  If I’m not going to get there, what am I fighting for?  And I don’t think I’m going to get there, so…  I’m lost.  Jamming the first and second jam against Fight Club–ten fresh Fight Club skaters, all after me. (And they were, since both jammers pulled an “eat the baby.”) WTF did I think would happen?  I did great.  I fought and fought and fought and made those girls work to hold me.  Ok, I never got out.  But I literally left it all on the track.  Physically, emotionally, I left it all there.  And then I went back and did it again.  And that time, I did get out, and there was no baby eating (though they tried.)

The last jam…  I cut Cherry.  Stupid.  I was on a power jam and doing great, loving life, when I felt my legs go “FUCK YOU, MENACE!” and I went “shit.”  Mentally, I gave up.  Cherry hit me out and I cut her.  Even if the Apex is a bitch for cutting, I should know better.  I do.  I was jumping back in bounds as she was rolling back, and my legs were tired and my attempt to stay out of bounds when I saw her rolling back was ineffective.  So I went to the penalty box and proceeded to have an asthma attack.  So I took my helmet off.  For which I was scolded.  I know I’m not supposed to do that.  I’d already caused one scene Sunday, I didn’t need to cause another.  Options were: puke, pass out, or take my helmet off so I could breathe. I chose oxygen and I chose correctly.  And I put my helmet back on as soon as I could breathe.   Safety, first, right?  Even when you’re the jammer and safety means a two minute jammer penalty.

So, yes, a dramatic Sunday.

Saturday, I’m going to do it again.  In a public, hour long Fight Club vs. The World scrimmage, I will jam for the world.  And I won’t get out, and I won’t score, and it will be okay because I will leave it all on the track.  Except next time, I’ll leave it all on the track in a “fuck yeah, bitches!” way instead of a sobbing in the corner way.

Back on track? Eh…

Food:

  • Cruelie burrito, 1% milk, coffee w/ carmel macchiato sugar free creamer
  • apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • Turkey and swiss on wheat.  Crystal Light.  Steamed broccoli.  2 dark chocolate reese’s (the little guys.)  2 red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
  • dark chocolate reese’s…. like…  8.
  • Leftover Spicy Shrimp Noodle Bowl, leafy greens salad w/ tofu and gorgonzola cheese w/ balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
  • Wine.  …  dark chocolate reese’s.

Exercise:

  • 78 toe push ups, 50 situps
  • short O’Reilly walk
  • 2 hr Rad Die practice
  • 30 minute Helen Wheels practice

Those Reese’s are evil.  I need to stop eating them.  And the Dove Chocolates.  I did great through the day and ate none.  Then before practice I just stuffed my face.  And I had two of Colin’s mom’s Red Velvet w/ Cream Cheese frosting cupcakes.  I’d licked all of the frosting off the first one so I had to eat the cupcake bare.  I needed a second to appreciate the combination of flavors.  Which was divine, btw.  😉

Everyone seems to be enjoying the homework, so that’s good.  Plus it’s wildly entertaining for me, so there’s that.  Haha.  I hope everyone does the tough part of the homework, and not just the fun part.  (The tough part being something similar to my Congratulations, Menace post.  Or any type of celebration of one’s own Travel Team Awesomeness.  Per Bonnie D’Stroir’s advice.  The fun part being: post a picture on facebook of yourself when you started playing roller derby.)

I’m not sure whose picture is my favorite so far.  They are all super awesome.

My shitty derby attitude continues.  A bit.  I think?  Rad Die gave us “work on your own stuff” time last night, and I let Sweets test out my skates while I sat out instead.  I did do some pushups.  (That’s why 78 instead of 50.)  And I didn’t find a partner in time for another drill, so sat out then as well…  I dunno.   It’s just… what’s the point of busting my ass every second of every practice?  It didn’t get me where I wanted, and other people who work less hard did get there.  So I should be doing what they’re doing, right?  Not what I’ve been doing.  But that’s not the right attitude either.  I think I’m just lost and confused right now, and since I’m not sure what to do…. well.  Sometimes it’s easier to just sit out and take a breather here and there.

I’m hoping to get back to my old self sooner than later.  Or figure out what to do if I’m not going to be busting my ass all the time.  It feels weird sitting out.  I don’t like it.

Murderball Madness!

Food:

  • Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage muffin w/ coffee and creamer and Naked Berry Blast
  • Italian Sammie w/ fries and ranch and two beers
  • Bertolli Chicken Parmesan Pasta meal w/ wine and homemade garlic “bread”
  • dove chocolates
  • ice cream

Exercise:

  • Reilly walk w/ Tim
  • 50 pushups
  • 50 situps

Hit up my brother’s Murderball Tourney yesterday with my husband.  We met my dad, Rowdy, Eve, and Lops there.  It was so fun!  Matt is a fucking beast!  We saw two games yesterday; his team played and won three.  The first game they played against their own “B” team, so it was a bit of a blow-out.  But… it was cool to watch, and I got to the one friend of Matt’s I know play, Javi.  What was super cool is that while Matt is basically the best player on his team…  Javi didn’t get a whole lot of play time (he’s much more impaired than Matt.)  But… I got to see both play, and it’s cool that he’s Matt’s bf on the team.  The second game was really close, vs. the University of Arizona (@Tuscon) Wildcats.  Apparently they’d stomped Matt’s team earlier this season.  Well, the Quin’s returned the favor yesterday.  It was badass.  They had two girls on their team and both were really good.

Then we came home, I had Bertolli and wine and passed out.  Matt has two more games today, but it’s during Sunday Bloody Sunday so I’m missing.  Sad day.

It was super fun, and it was extra special since my friends came!  I posted it on the forum since I think Roller Derby and Murderball would draw similar crowds, and maybe we could cross advertise or something (or the Harlequinns could do a halftime show, which was an idea that came up,) but I didn’t really expect anyone to come.  Then three people did!  And it was super fun and we had a great time and I love ROLLERDERBY.

Oh.  And Matt is dating this girl Morgan and I met her yesterday.  Verdict pending.

Martini Madness is Right

Food:

  • Jimmy Dean turkey sausage biscuit w/ grapefruit and brown sugar
  • Luna Bar
  • 3 extra large martinis
  • bar nuts, cheese platter, Thai Chicken Flatbread

Exercise:

  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 situps (25 crunches, 25 v-ups)
  • Saturday Scrimmage

Yeah, so I hit up Saturday Scrimmage yesterday because I hate Body Pump and the Spin instructor was the marimba lady.  It was fun, but also frustrating, as per usual.  I tried being “YODA” instead of “R2D2” and that was a disaster.  Try Not, Do. Or Do Not.  My ass.  So today to avoid further disaster I’ll just be R2D2 today.  Which makes me really sad.  Whatever.

We’ve been practicing flippy-spinny stuff to break out as a jammer.  I’ve now applied the move thrice to blocking.  “Oh, you think you’re in front of me, jammer?” Flip.  “How you like me now, bitch?”  Granted yesterday it landed me in the penalty box (high block.)  Didn’t feel anybody’s face on me anywhere, so whatevs.  I was “shiny” yesterday.  That’s what I get for showing up at Saturday Scrimmage, I guess.  *Sigh.*  Hopefully my shininess doesn’t extent to today, because that would royally blow.

So then Tim and I went to Union Bistro in Castle Rock for $5 Martini Saturdays.  Oh, I enjoyed that.  A lot.  They bring the shaker and pour your martini at the table, which basically means you get two martinis in one.  😀  I had “The Martini” (Dirty Vodka,) “Acid Rain” (Citrus Vodka, midori, lime and cherry), and a “Black Pearl” (Pearl Vodka, Blackberry Infusion, & lime).  All delicious.  Not as good as the “Ruby Red Slipper” I favor at Siena‘s, but the ambiance more than made up for staring at a wall at Siena’s, sooo….  I’ll live.

Then Tim and I argued the benefits of a 5:15pm movie, or an 8:45pm movie.  He wanted to nap prior to the movie.  I told him if I went to sleep, that would be it for the night.  He won.  I passed out, and at 8:00ish when he tired to get me up had a pounding throbbing horrible headache and wouldn’t do it.  So Tim went to the movie alone and I slept.  Which probably turned out good on my calorie count, since sleeping kept me from eating.  (Friday was such a food disaster.)

Everybody’s Workin’

Food: 3301/1756 (apparently toasted coconut is bad for you…)

  • Honey Nut Cheerios, 1% milk, banana, coffee, sugar free hazelnut
  • apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • ham and provolone on whate w/ mustard, VitaRain Zero…  banana. Energy bite.
  • TACO THURSDAY.  Three corn tacos w/ beef, refried beens, cheese, olives, salsa, sour cream (full fat), and tomatoes.  With a glass of 1% milk.
  • Beer.
  • Wine.
  • Pineapple w/ toasted coconut.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly walk
  • 50 toe pushups (at work. heehee.)
  • 25 full touch sit-ups, 25 V-up reverse crunches (at work. heehee.)
  • Spin Class

After late nights Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (plus a Tylenol PM…) I had a hard time getting out of bed and skipped my morning crunches/push-ups.  😦  It is Spirit Week at school and was “Young/Old” day.  The girls were supposed to dress “young” so I wore leggings and a long sleeved tee shirt with high heeled ankle boots.  Apparently this seemed “dressed up” because I had many comments.  (Plus in leggings and heels my legs looked stellar.  😀 )  I was sorta just going for “what can I do pushups in at work?” But hey.  Whatevs.  So.  3:00pm rolled around, and of course I stay til 4:00pm (*cough*3:45*cough*), so I went in the back and did me some pushups and situps.  Naturally now that I’ve said I can do 25 continuous pushups…I no longer can.  😦  Lame.

Tim had wanted to do dinner together last night, but I had spin at 6 and he had a mand date at 6:30, so we ate early (4:45.)  Tacos!  Tim made them.  I really can’t let him cook.  Regular sour cream.  Yikes.  They were delicious, though.  But.  I wish I’d opted for a Taco Salad.  Anyway, after our excellent dinner, as I was headed out the door, Tim invited me on his man-date.  Which was sweet.  So I gave him $20 and promised to meet him.  (Positive reinforcement works with puppies, right?  Why not men?)

Spin Class.  Have I ever mentioned how much I fucking love Leslie?  I had forgotten my water bottle and had to borrow one from the lost-n-found (icky.  If I come down w/ some weird virus, we’ll know why though.)  Anyway, we started with 20 mins sprinting.  I loved it. 😀  Happy Mean@$$.  And when Leslie does 20ish mins sprinting, it’s a pyramid of 3x 30 seconds on, 20 seconds off.  Then 3 x 45 seconds on, 20 seconds off.  Then 3 x 60 seconds on, 20 seconds off, etc.  No BS 5min “sprints” ala Bill, the maroon.  Then our “hills” were at really high RPMs (80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 110) so I really liked that.  Anyway, the whole class was physically and mentally challenging, but didn’t have too much resistance, so I really liked it.  Plus it went by really fast.  Oh–and Leslie is finally unpacked after moving and has some new playlists.  Phew.  She’s always got one or two super awesome ’80s songs in there, which makes me giggle.

Then I met Tim and Marc for a beer.  That was weird b/c it didn’t go down very easily.  And after we went home I poured some of the toasted coconut I made for those energy bites on top of some fresh pineapple and it was delicious.  Would have been great with like vanilla (ICE CREAM) yogurt or something…  Drank a glass of wine, went to bed around 9:00pm and…

I slept like a fucking champion.  Bout time.  Shit.  Reilly cuddled me all night long, too.  😀
