But why is the rum gone?!

Food: 2647/2022

  • Honey Nut Cheerios w/ banana and Almond Milk.  Coffee & Sugar Free Carmel Macchiato Creamer
  • Apple, Yoplait Greek w/ Fruit and Granola
  • Greek Yogurt Tuna on wheat w/ spinach. Red bell pepper slices.
  • Cheesy Penne with Broccoli and Chicken, salad w/ light balsamic vinegar, triscuits
  • Almond Snickers… a bite of Misto’s delicious Peanut Butter Chocolate protein bar (that was more deliciously satisfying than the Almond Snickers…)
  • PB & Hershey’s Special dark on wheat…
  • wine!

Exercise:

  • 50 toe push ups
  • 50+ sit ups (25 leg lifts, 25 cobras, some at practice)
  • 2hr Thursday Misto Practice
  • 1hr Sugar “scrimmage.”

I know it was a good practice when I get home and fitbit tells me I have 15,000+ steps.  Scrimmage days I get like no steps, so it wasn’t the hour-ish scrimmage-ish.  Double practice school nights I’m usually around 11,000.  The only times I hit 15,000 are when I have spin class and walk Reilly.

I really need to get on track with my eating.  I jammed on a Snicker’s yesterday.  And fro-yo with lunch.  Bad Mean@$$.  My skinny jeans don’t feel so hot this morning.  😦  I’ve got tummy overhang.  And I could easily have cut out the 600+ calories I’m over from yesterday (the frozen yogurt, the snickers, and the PB& Hershey’s on wheat…)

I’m hitting Costco this weekend.  Misto said she got the choco-peanut butter protein bar there, so I’ll grab some, as well as some other healthy snacks.  I just need to focus.  Balance is also a goal and unfortunately gets in the way sometimes.  So, balance with a focus on diet.

I had a great day yesterday.  I worked 14hrs.  (6:45am-8:45pm. Basketball Clock.)  I really enjoyed everyone’s old school derby photos and the stories that went with them.  Plus it was cool how everyone positively responded to my idea.  By the end of the day, when Gaygan told the derby world to join us, I was beaming and felt like a total badass.  I went home and told Tim all about it.  And Tim was proud of me, too, and posted a picture from my actual first bout.  On my drive home, I felt certain the influx of chocolate would surely end, now that I recognize my own badassery.  Alas.  It was not to be.  😉

Because I had a busy day, I took a walk during my lunch break.  I felt naughty and kept looking over my shoulder.  (At one point the school’s security golf cart did take off from the school in my direction…)  Other than that… it was great!  I walked about…  2-3 miles?  I wanted to get my 10,000 steps in yesterday, even though I’d be working all day.  Then during basketball, I walked up and down the main hallway stairs between games and at halftimes.  I not only achieved 10,000+ steps, I also climbed 40 floors (a personal best, I think, and I didn’t even have to climb up to Dr. Borman’s office!)

Oh–Almond Milk for breakfast.  Apparently dairy is bad for me.  I have a consultation w/ Cruelie coming up, and I think she will say it is bad…  Sunny seems in agreement.  So I bought Almond Milk to try it out.  It was fine on my cereal until I got to the bottom and tried to drink it.  Okay, I succeeded in drinking it but it was all thick and creamy like whole milk and ew.  EWWWWW.

Anyway, so I went to bed feeling a total badass and then I woke up all bleeeehhhhhgh again.  *Sigh.*  This is getting so old.  It’s draining.  Regulate, damn it.  Maybe if I stop eating chocolate all day long.  I emailed Sweets asking her to help me prioritize my derby goals.  I start one and never master it then work on something new, etc.  Plus Blew & I need a Cont training plan, so I’d like some help with that.  Maybe prioritizing will help and I won’t feel so “what’s the point.”

I would argue the only person I see working harder than me is Sweets herself.  That doesn’t mean everyone else isn’t doing it, just that’s what I see at practice.  She’s also there early, but she does more than roll around aimlessly.  She also focuses on drills, etc.  So it’s hard feeling like I work harder than a bunch of people that just moved above me.  And I got this “Most Improved” award, right?  And everyone thinks that means I’m doing well.  Well.  Based on the current layout of things, I think it means I must have really really sucked a year ago and I’m “meh” now.

Everyone else thinks I’m a badass.  Why can’t I?  Or, I do… for a bit…  then I just don’t see it anymore.  Why is it so fleeting?

Play SMARTER. Not HARDER. xo

Food:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios, 1% milk, banana, coffee, sugar free hazelnut creamer
  • greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola (Tim forgot to pack my apple)
  • salad w/ tofu and light southwest lime ranch dressing
  • apple (sigh of relief)
  • Coffee Protein Shake
  • banana
  • WINE.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly Walk
  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 crunches (25 regular, 25 v-ups)
  • 2 hr practice
  • 1 hr Yoga w/ Rad Die and my lovely teammates.

Food.  Ate well yesterday.  I survived w/o the apple I normally have for snack mid-day.  It was tough, but I did it.  Then when I got home the first thing I did was ravenously devour an apple out of the fridge.  Whew.  I should have had my banana before Conts practice last night, even though it was more chill than usual.  (I got dizzy/lightheaded during headstands.)

I slept like a champ.  I was nice and relaxed after Yoga and I did my best to maintain that demeanor on my drive home.  Mostly successful.  Small glass of wine before bed.  It took some time to fall asleep, but I did, and I slept like a champ.  (I should start using my fitbit to track my sleep again…)

Yoga.  Wow that was super awesome, and just what the doctor ordered.  Have I mentioned how much I hate being captain, yet?  😦  I really do.  I love it, but I hate it.  I hated turning skaters away last night.  Sure, you don’t have to be a “Sunday” skater to do Yoga after practice, but…  you do to attend a Contenders practice.  Also…  I talked about the stress everyone’s been feeling, lately…  And sure.  The newbs started their eval week, too.  But…  we’ve been at it for three.  And all the scrimmaging for the Hood/Daisy bout…  Last night was for the Contenders and our Project Mayhem guests.  It wasn’t for everyone else.  I have good reasons, but they don’t make me feel any better for turning those other girls away.

And then, I can’t help but wonder what everyone is thinking.  I know some girls are judging that particular use of that time.  I also know it was exactly what those skaters needed.  The ones that came.  And the ones that didn’t.  Well.  You can’t coach part of an athlete, you have to coach the whole athlete.  And sometimes that’s going to mean doing some weird shit at practice to get our mental game/focus on.  They picked me for this job, so they’re just going to have to come around to what that means, and that means yoga here and there at practice, etc.

Besides.  We could have scrimmaged last night, sure.  And yeah, the two evaluators (me & Die) who were there could have seen some good shit.  But.  How much would you all have killed me if we’d done that?  I’d have been pissed off at me.  Not to mention our poor refs.  They’ve had scrimmages two-three nights a week on top of Sats/Suns and a couple of bouts.  They’d have killed me, too.  (Or they just wouldn’t have shown up.  And then we’d really have killed each other.)

So HA.

And I know what you’re all thinking/going to say: I can’t make everyone happy all the time.  I beg to differ.  Yes. I.  Can.

Mojo

Food: (Haven’t been using Fitbit to track food lately…)

  • Honey Nut Cheerios, 1% milk, banana, coffee, sugarfree hazelnut creamer
  • Apple, Greek Yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • 1% cottage cheese, ham and provolone on wheat (w/o condiments, b/c condiments are evil.)
  • Chocolate Coconut cake (which I also forgot to list yesterday–my “Colin Mom” goody of the week.)
  • Naked Green Machine w/ Greek Yogurt, Honey, and Whey Protein.
  • PIZZA.  and WINE.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly Walk
  • 73 Toe Pushups (23 uh…  hand release? push-ups @ practice)
  • 73 Situps (25 crunches, 25 cobras, 23 full-out sit-ups)
  • 2 hr league practice
  • 30 minute scrimmage w/ FC vs. Hoods
  • 30 minute FC drill (holy exhaustion, btw.)

I’m not being a very consistent non-TBTer so far this round.  Basketball is keeping me from exercising as much as I like, I’m eating bleh, I’m not using Fitbit to it’s potential in terms of tracking my caloric intake, I’m not even blogging consistently, etc.  I have done my pushups and situps almost every day, though, and I think I’m seeing results. (At the very least I can do 25-30 pushups w/o needing to rest.)  Time will tell.

Yesterday my “monthly gift” arrived.  Thank mother nature.  Holy shitballs.  I’m definitely more… ah… chill… than even yesterday morning.  Still a bit crazy, but hey.

Practice.  We did stuff I’m good at, so that was cool…  and then despite not originally being invited to participate in the FC/Hood scrimmage during TT practice time, the Conts had a last minute invite so most of us skated.  That was cool.  And fun.  And surreal.  And then we did a four-wall w/ a jammer trying to break through drill…  when it was my turn to jam I could hear myself wheezing.  I may actually be related to Darth Vader.  That’s what I sounded like.  It’s exhausting doing that any time, but against four FCers…  Um.  Yeah. But I didn’t give up.  For two whole minutes.  And I think I got by once… and around/through most of them a couple times…  so that was cool.  I guess.

I think it’s pretty clear Evals have been really tough for me.  I really hate being on the committee.  It’s like…  it was hard not making Contenders, and then when I made it, I felt soo much pressure, and realized it’s even harder actually making it.  And then Evals are hard not knowing, right?  Yeah.  1,000x worse knowing.  OMG.

Anyway.  I had two emails this week out of the blue from super awesome skaters telling me to keep my chin up, that I’m doing great.  And of course you guys have been saying that same thing for weeks…  it’s just cool.  My favorite part of derby is how we all take care of each other. It’s evals and we all want the same thing but we support each other in our own goals rather than being negative-ly competitive.  You know?  It’s not just what people are saying to me, but what I’m seeing on the track and in people’s actions and demeanor.  I can look at two girls who I know are fighting for the same spot, who I know realize they are fighting for the same spot, and I can see them cheering each other on, and doing everything they can to help the other girl succeed.

Basically: derby girls are fucking awesome.  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK8mJJJvaes)

Take that, Dove Chocolates. Suck my veggies!

Food: 2493/ 1717

  • Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Muffin w/ 1% milk
  • Luna bar, apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit & granola
  • White bread, swiss, ham sammie.  VitaRain Sport.  Yoplait Greek w/ fruit and granola.  Might Mango Naked smoothie.
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs w/ white bread garlic toast and red wine.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly walk
  • Spin Class w/ Leslie (lots of hills)

I don’t get it.  14,000+ steps yesterday and Spin Class and it still wants me to eat 1700 calories?  eff you again Fitbit.  Argh.  And I weighed in at 153 again this morning.  Boo.  I think I may have topped out (err… down?)  I think I might not care.  😦

I avoided the chocolate yesterday.  Not a single one.  VICTORY IS MINE.  Bwahahaha.  Suck that Dove.  Suck it hard.  (The verb “suck” has me visualizing that sweet delicious chocolate melting in my mouth… the way it crumbles when I bite into it… you thought I was going to say something else, didn’t you?  Naughty.)

Got home from work, browsed the pantry thinking Spaghetti and Meatballs, and then it had to be made.  I was craving it.  Could have been worse–I could have had cheese tortellini’s and meatballs.  Tim “made” it for me when I got home from Spin.  (He got everything started then I finished cooking it.)  He made Garlic Toast w/ buttered white bread and garlic salt.  Blech.  Double Blech.  I couldn’t handle the salt.  I ate both my pieces, granted, but ew.  I have even explained to him that we have a giant Costco thing of garlic in the frige as well as regular garlic seasoning instead of garlic “salt” for this purpose.  Alas, he is a man and seems to be lacking the gene to comprehend this statement.  But he made me dinner!  ❤

My tummy was bothering me.  Not like it was bothering me in August, like too much fiber bothering me.  Or maybe too much heavy food.  Anyway, I ate and drank slowly.  I thought for a minute I wouldn’t finish my wine.  But I did.  😉

So.  Dilemma.  Leslie’s teaching Spin tomorrow.  I *soooo* want to go.  Saturday’s are 1hr 15min “endurance” rides.  Plus its Leslie.  Last week, though, after “speed skating” Friday night… I barely handled Body Combat and Body Pump.  I don’t know if I can do it.  And I *do* need to be lifting.  Saturdays are my lifting days. But Leslie.  Spin. That would make my week look like this: Thursday: Spin.  Friday: Speed Skate/Off Skate.  Saturday: Spin.  Sunday: Bloody Sunday.  Monday: Derby.  Tuesday: off.  That’s a lot of cardio and a lot of legs.  Not advisable.  I think I’ll do it.

Annoyed

Food: 2592/1958

I’m super annoyed.  I left my laptop at school last night to be re-imaged.  (They wipe the harddrive and load all the new shit on it) so I couldn’t sync my Fitbit.  I walked 18,000+ steps, plus went to Spin Class.  So I ate.  I ate well.  I ate what I usually eat when I do well.  And here I am wayyyyy over on calories.  Sure.  I’m on the 750/day deficit.  But still.  I’m 600 calories over.  wtf.  Eff You, Fitbit.  Eff you.

  • Healthy bowl of honey nut cheerios and 1% milk w/ coffee and sugar free pumpkin spice creamer.
  • Healthy apple with greek yogurt, fruit, and granola.  Healthy Protein Chewy Bar.
  • …4 Dove Dark Chocolates.
  • Healthy Ham and reduced fat swiss cheese on wheat sammie.  VitaRain Sport, Banana.  (Healthy.) I totally skipped mayo and mustard and anything else loaded with caloric delciousness.  Bread.  Meat.  Cheese.
  • Healthy Naked Blue Machine w/ 1/3 cup of healthy nonfat greek yogurt mixed in.
  • Healthy wild rice with grilled chicken, white toast w/ apple butter, Healthy glass of 1% milk.
  • Not even a half glass of wine. Tim poured me a nice sized glass but I was falling asleep from all my exercise so I gave it to him and went to sleep.

Okay, so the chocolate and wine were not that great for me (and totally not nearly as awesome individually instead of together) but the only food indiscretions I had yesterday–plus they equal less than 300 calories.  *Sigh.*  But I guess they do account for over 250 of those extra calories.  Fuuuck.  This shit’s hard.

Top that off with: I did fine at Spin.  Except I’ve been going over 120 rpms these past few weeks and Leslie instructed a new girl last night not to.  I know I shouldn’t, but Kill Bill wants everyone over 120 practically the duration of his class, so I’m conditioned to do it.  Anyway, this means more tension on the wheel in future classes.  More tension = harder = hurts more.  My legs *always* hurt.  And it’s starting to annoy me.  I hate constantly being tight, stiff, sore, or in pain.  UGHHHH.

Exercise:

  • Looooong Reilly walk
  • Spin Class

Today I am clearly a CRANK@$$ instead of a MEAN@$$.  Blergh.

Ouch.

Food: 2568/2598

  • Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Muffin, Coffee w/ Sugarfree Pumpkin Spice Creamer, banana
  • Luna Bar (Vanilla Almond)
  • Leafy greens, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, and tuna salad w/ greek yogurt, honey, red wine vinegar, and Pom dressing, Blue Machine Naked Smoothie w/ Nonfat greek yogurt
  • Almonds, banana, Dole fruit cup, 1% cottage cheese
  • Salmon filet, steamed broccoli, Lemon garlic herb wild rice, red wine.

Exercise:

  • 1 hr. Body Combat
  • 1 hr. Body Pump
  • 45mins Yoga (stretching)
  • Long Reilly walk

About 20 minutes into Cardio-Kickbocking, the past 24 hours flashed before my eyes: Yesterday–a long walk with Reilly, Speed Skating/Off Skates training, martini, sleep, breakfast sammie, Body Combat, Body Pump, Luna Bar, Reilly walk.

Holy Shit.  Tired.  Sore legs.  Ran into Leslie on my way to Body Combat.  She was teaching Spin today.  I was tempted, but as my semi-conscious self struggled to convince me I was too stiff/sore to go to class today,  a leg workout was out of the question.  Plus I had shorts on.  Shorts + Spin = Chaffage.  Ouch.  So I missed Leslie’s Endurance Cycle.  Unfortunate.  I’d love to see what she does with that extra 15 minutes.  Anyway.

So Body Combat.  Holy Eff am I terrible at it.  Yikes.  Jennifer, the instructor, asked if it was anyone’s first time.  It was my second.  So I kept my mouth shut.  Mistake.  I couldn’t see her/myself in the mirror where I was standing.  I get so confused in that class.  And this week we… like..  sword chopped the air.  Repeatedly.  Then held someone on the ground and punched them in the face.  It could have been worse.  It could have been a real person.  Or I could have been stomping on their face.  But still.  Somehow the act of holding my arm as if I were holding someone down and beating them to a pulp was repulsive to me.  I suppose I’ll go back a few times.  See if I “get” it eventually.  It is a good workout.  I’m thinking about trying Zumba.  Anyone?  Yes/no?

After Body Pump Jennifer stopped me and told me I had great legs.  😀  Asked if I ran.  I said no I play Roller Derby.  Then I blushed and walked out to my Yoga mat, and realized it’s probably actually the spinning…  anyway.  It was a really nice compliment.

So I’ve eaten 2500+ calories, and even on the 2000 calorie/day deficit, fitbit says I have not exceeded my caloric intake for the day.  Cool, right?  I should do this exercising business more.

In other news, I’m raging bitch PMSing, so I’ve been all grumpy all day.  Tim and I were hanging Christmas Lights. I hate Christmas.  I spent $100 on lights, and a) I didn’t get enough and b) Tim wants to exchange them *rolls eyes.*  He insisted we go to Lowe’s for more even though the originals were from Costco (farther away.)  Unfortunately, the new Lowe’s ones won’t plug into the Costco ones.  So Tim bought some adapter, but they don’t make the right adapter b/c the brand new Costco lates are “outdated,” so he also bought a file to file the plug down.  Sounds safe, eh?  Anyway, so I was irritated that he won’t listen to me, etc.  And then he was being bossy about the Christmas Tree so I may have said some things below the belt.  (I broke a light, and now a whole branch is out, and I was struggling to fix it, and when he kept telling me to leave it and hang ornaments I finally said “I have to fix it b/c you never fix anything.”  Which is true.  But apparently not appreciated.)  Boys.  Ugh.

Anyway, so.  Maybe one more glass of wine before bed.  But I’ll have a large glass of water first.  😀
