Yesterday

Food:

  • honey nut cheerios, 1% milk, coffee, hazelnut sugarfree creamer
  • 3 itty bitty energy bites
  • apple & greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • ham and cheese w/ mustard and salad w/ light dressing.  Diet Hansen’s soda.
  • Green Machine.  Cottage Cheese.
  • Luna Bar

Exercise:

  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 situps (25 v ups, 25 cobras)
  • 2 hr Cruelie Practice
  • 1 hr scrimmage/FC

Skates.

Karma sucks when you’re an asshole. Apparently I’m an asshole.

Food:

  • honey nut cheerios w/ 1% milk, banana, coffee, hazelnut creamer
  • apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola
  • salad w/ tofu and light balsamic vinegar.  VitaRain Zero.
  • natural almond butter with honey and simply blackberry jam on wheat w/ 1% milk
  • Triscuits w/ reduced fat cream cheese, english cucumber slices, and smoked salmon.
  • Wine.  Chocolate Peanut Butter Moose Tracks Ice Cream.  Dove Chocolates

Exercise:

  • 50 toe push ups
  • 50 situps (25 crunches, 25 cobras)
  • Short Reilly Walk
  • Spin Class

Spin Class was great, but…  weird.  Leslie class, so it was fabulous.  My seat was taken when I got there, so I had to sit elsewhere.  So did five other “regulars.”  There’s this fat guy that’s been coming since the new year.  Sometimes he stares at me.  But when he notices me notice him staring, he looks away.  You know, like you’re supposed to do.  Yesterday he had to sit in front of me, so that was a relief.

I talk about him like I’m being judgmental.  I’m not.  I’m proud of him.  It’s clear Spin Class is so difficult for him.  Sometimes he has to sit out for drills, but he never gives up.  He’s always there, on time, he stays the whole class, and even when he sits out for part, he keeps riding.  And he’s lost some weight already.

So I was cheering when he sat in front of me, since it meant he couldn’t stare at me.  Then this other dude, who annoys me, sat on the other bike in front of me.  He annoys me b/c he wears his cycling outfit to class.  And he shaves his legs.  And he puts a pedometer on his bike.  And he sweats puddles onto the mat below him (it’s gross.)  None of these things would be such a big deal, and weren’t, until yesterday.  He was late.  Leslie was instructing us during our warm-up, and I felt eyes on me.  He was on his bike, fully turned around, neck craning, giving me a cheesy grin.  I met his eyes, grimaced (gave him my fake “wtf do you want stop staring at me asshole” grin), and looked strait back at Leslie.  He continued craning and staring.

Eventually, he turned around.  But continued to annoy me by first not doing the things Leslie instructed us to do.  When she says stand: fucking stand up, asshole.  When she says sprint: fucking sprint, asshole.  Etc.  W.T.F.  ???  If you’re too good for my teacher and this class, go ride a bike somewhere else.  Period.

Then I caught this dipwad staring at me in the fucking mirror.  I’m the only one who gets to stare at me in the fucking mirror.  Look away, asshole.  Look away.

I go there to workout.  I go there to forget evaluations and Contenders and Practice Squad and Fight Club and the fight I had with Tim and Reilly pulling on her leash, etc.  I don’t go there to bat eyelashes at some fucking bald jock in his damn cycling outfit who’s craning his neck to look at me and trying to make google-y eyes in the mirror.

I was pissed.  But I just stared at Leslie and ignored him.  The staring and craning continued the full hour.  (As he poured sweat like a fire hydrant onto the mat below him.  Gross, dude.  Gross.)

So then I go to drive home, right?  Yeah.  Totally almost killed myself.  It was blizzardy on top of ice, and there’s a sharp turn w/ a cliff as you exit the Rec Center.  I was only going 20, but my brakes/steering wheel picked that moment to freeze.  My brain was processing whether the yellow-black caution sign things would hold my car when I slammed into them when I finally made the hard left and came to a stop at the curb.  (5 feet from death.  Or at least a major fucking accident and the death of my car.)

Then I went home and showered and ate salmon triscuits and ice cream and drank wine.

Play SMARTER. Not HARDER. xo

Food:

  • salad w/ tofu and light southwest lime ranch dressing
  • apple (sigh of relief)
  • Coffee Protein Shake
  • banana
  • WINE.

Exercise:

  • Short Reilly Walk
  • 50 toe pushups
  • 50 crunches (25 regular, 25 v-ups)
  • 2 hr practice
  • 1 hr Yoga w/ Rad Die and my lovely teammates.

Food.  Ate well yesterday.  I survived w/o the apple I normally have for snack mid-day.  It was tough, but I did it.  Then when I got home the first thing I did was ravenously devour an apple out of the fridge.  Whew.  I should have had my banana before Conts practice last night, even though it was more chill than usual.  (I got dizzy/lightheaded during headstands.)

I slept like a champ.  I was nice and relaxed after Yoga and I did my best to maintain that demeanor on my drive home.  Mostly successful.  Small glass of wine before bed.  It took some time to fall asleep, but I did, and I slept like a champ.  (I should start using my fitbit to track my sleep again…)

Yoga.  Wow that was super awesome, and just what the doctor ordered.  Have I mentioned how much I hate being captain, yet?  😦  I really do.  I love it, but I hate it.  I hated turning skaters away last night.  Sure, you don’t have to be a “Sunday” skater to do Yoga after practice, but…  you do to attend a Contenders practice.  Also…  I talked about the stress everyone’s been feeling, lately…  And sure.  The newbs started their eval week, too.  But…  we’ve been at it for three.  And all the scrimmaging for the Hood/Daisy bout…  Last night was for the Contenders and our Project Mayhem guests.  It wasn’t for everyone else.  I have good reasons, but they don’t make me feel any better for turning those other girls away.

And then, I can’t help but wonder what everyone is thinking.  I know some girls are judging that particular use of that time.  I also know it was exactly what those skaters needed.  The ones that came.  And the ones that didn’t.  Well.  You can’t coach part of an athlete, you have to coach the whole athlete.  And sometimes that’s going to mean doing some weird shit at practice to get our mental game/focus on.  They picked me for this job, so they’re just going to have to come around to what that means, and that means yoga here and there at practice, etc.

Besides.  We could have scrimmaged last night, sure.  And yeah, the two evaluators (me & Die) who were there could have seen some good shit.  But.  How much would you all have killed me if we’d done that?  I’d have been pissed off at me.  Not to mention our poor refs.  They’ve had scrimmages two-three nights a week on top of Sats/Suns and a couple of bouts.  They’d have killed me, too.  (Or they just wouldn’t have shown up.  And then we’d really have killed each other.)

So HA.

And I know what you’re all thinking/going to say: I can’t make everyone happy all the time.  I beg to differ.  Yes. I.  Can.

More food. Nom Nom Nom

Food:

  • 2 eggs over easy, buttered wheat toast, grapefruit w/ honey, coffee w/ sugar free hazelnut creamer
  • apple
  • filet mignon w/ gorgonzola cheese.  Crab cake.  Salad (w/ avocado and parmesan) and balsamic vinegar and olive oil.  Bread.  Wine.
  • Denali Peanut Butter Moose Tracks ice cream.
  • More wine.

Exercise:

  • 50 toe pushups
  • 51 situps (25 cobra, 13 one side, 13 other side…)
  • scrimmage

Martini Madness is Right

Food:

  • Jimmy Dean turkey sausage biscuit w/ grapefruit and brown sugar
  • Luna Bar

  • Saturday Scrimmage

Yeah, so I hit up Saturday Scrimmage yesterday because I hate Body Pump and the Spin instructor was the marimba lady.  It was fun, but also frustrating, as per usual.  I tried being “YODA” instead of “R2D2” and that was a disaster.  Try Not, Do. Or Do Not.  My ass.  So today to avoid further disaster I’ll just be R2D2 today.  Which makes me really sad.  Whatever.

We’ve been practicing flippy-spinny stuff to break out as a jammer.  I’ve now applied the move thrice to blocking.  “Oh, you think you’re in front of me, jammer?” Flip.  “How you like me now, bitch?”  Granted yesterday it landed me in the penalty box (high block.)  Didn’t feel anybody’s face on me anywhere, so whatevs.  I was “shiny” yesterday.  That’s what I get for showing up at Saturday Scrimmage, I guess.  *Sigh.*  Hopefully my shininess doesn’t extent to today, because that would royally blow.

So then Tim and I went to Union Bistro in Castle Rock for $5 Martini Saturdays.  Oh, I enjoyed that.  A lot.  They bring the shaker and pour your martini at the table, which basically means you get two martinis in one.  😀  I had “The Martini” (Dirty Vodka,) “Acid Rain” (Citrus Vodka, midori, lime and cherry), and a “Black Pearl” (Pearl Vodka, Blackberry Infusion, & lime).  All delicious.  Not as good as the “Ruby Red Slipper” I favor at Siena‘s, but the ambiance more than made up for staring at a wall at Siena’s, sooo….  I’ll live.

Then Tim and I argued the benefits of a 5:15pm movie, or an 8:45pm movie.  He wanted to nap prior to the movie.  I told him if I went to sleep, that would be it for the night.  He won.  I passed out, and at 8:00ish when he tired to get me up had a pounding throbbing horrible headache and wouldn’t do it.  So Tim went to the movie alone and I slept.  Which probably turned out good on my calorie count, since sleeping kept me from eating.  (Friday was such a food disaster.)

Binge Eating

  • Turkey Sausage Muffin w/ 1% milk, apple coffee, and hazelnut sugar free creamer
  • apple, greek yogurt w/ fruit and granola, sugar snap peas
  • Ham and Provolone on wheat w/ VitaRain Zero
  • Trail Mix Bar, Coke Zero, Butterfinger, 2 energy bites
  • Chicken Nuggets w/ Honey (and Cock Radish Sauce)
  • Bottle and a half of wine
  • Pepperjack cheese slices, peanut butter with butterscotch chips…  and chocolate sauce

Exercise:

  • Long Reilly walk
  • 50 push ups (45 on my toes and 5 on my knees… 😦 )
  • 50 situps (25 touch, 25 cobra)
